Flowers are an important part of the wedding ceremony and reception. There is just something about the reception centerpieces and ceremony arrangements which can turn an ordinary room into an extraordinary one. Varieties are selected for many reasons such as for the church, for the couple and bridal party as well as to decorate the reception location – such as wedding flower arrangements. This is why choosing the perfect flowers for the wedding is extremely important. There are a few different considerations which will make this process go smoothly, and which will allow you to find the best local florists for your wedding.

The flowers for the ceremony site can be as elaborate or as simple as you wish. Your officiant’s advice, or that of the altar guild or florist, can be most helpful in choosing flowers for the altar and chancel. If your ceremony is outside, decorate the arch, gazebo, or other structure serving as the altar with flowers or greenery.

Your wedding flowers should complement the season, your gown, and your color scheme. Your wedding flowers should also complement your attendants’ attire, and the style and formality of your wedding. If you have a favorite wedding flower, build your bouquet around it and include it in all your arrangements. Some wedding flowers carry centuries of symbolism. Consider stephanotis — tradition regards it as the bridal good-luck flower! Pimpernel signifies change; white flowers radiate innocence; forget-me-nots indicate true love; and ivy stands for friendship, fidelity, and matrimony — the three essentials for a happy marriage.

They are used to greet guests; adorn tables; wear and even carry down the aisle. Wedding floral decorations are there to instill mood and ambience to the theme of the ceremony and reception for the bride and groom, and to basically top of the romantic notion that is the wedding.

Those who are purchasing for the big day should also consider various types that they can add to their bouquets and arrangements. This is an especially important aspect for those individuals who wish to have a particular type of flower in their ensembles. Including one special type of flower might just make all the difference in the world to the future bride and groom.

Choosing Your Wedding Music

The reception is where the culmination of the wedding will be held. It is here where people will get to enjoy the celebration together with the newly married couple. For this matter, every detail of the celebration must provide satisfaction and contentment not only to the bride and groom but to all visitors and guests as well. At the reception, the elements that will make the celebration a success are comfortable venue, great foods, party floor, and, of course, music. The wedding music plays a very important role both in the wedding ceremony and all throughout the culmination of the celebration.

Ceremony Music

The wedding music you choose for your ceremony will set the tone for your entire wedding. Remember to ask your site what types of wedding music they allow – many churches do not allow secular music to be played and have very strict rules about what may be used. Consult with the musical director of your facility to be sure you create a program which is suitable and also suits your own style.

Ceremony music is the music played during the ceremony; i.e., prelude, processional, ceremony, recessional, and postlude. Prelude music is played 15 to 30 minutes before the ceremony begins and while guests are being seated. Processional music is played as the wedding party enters the ceremony site. Ceremony music is played during the ceremony. Recessional music is played as the wedding party leaves the ceremony site. Postlude music is played while guests leave the ceremony site. Options: The most traditional musical instrument for wedding ceremonies is the organ. But guitars, pianos, flutes, harps and violins are also popular today.

Other wedding music you will need to choose include the father-daughter dance, mother-son dance, songs to be played during the toasts, bouquet toss, garter removal and toss, cake-cutting, money dance (if you have such a thing), and the last dance. You will also want to consider playing traditional wedding music from your cultural backgrounds.

Don’t forget, when choosing your wedding music, to make a list of songs that you absolutely want to have played at your reception and provide this to your dj or band. If they don’t have it, you will want to obtain a copy yourself of anything you just need played.

Guests are an important part of any event. Any celebration is considered incomplete in the absence of guests and invitees. It is due to the crowd that the party appears lively and fun-filled. The same holds true for a wedding party as well. During a wedding, guests are expected to follow a certain code of conduct, which is generally referred to as wedding etiquette for guests. As wedding is a cause for celebration and also includes religious ceremonies, the guests are expected to exhibit decent behavior.

Only special people are invited to be wedding guests. After all, guest lists are limited to a certain amount of people since the bride and groom, in most cases, have to pay for each and every person attending. Because of this, it’s up to you as a guest to be mindful of the occasion and brush up on the proper etiquette. Failure to do so may not only result in your committing a major faux pas, but may also be insulting to the happy couple.

Don’t bring a date unless your invitation specifically says their name or “+ Guest” Remember that the cost for each person attending a wedding is generally high, so bringing unexpected guests is very impolite. This includes your children or other relatives!

Don’t be late! If a wedding invitation says that the ceremony will begin at 5, be sure to arrive there by 4:45 so as to give yourself time to find a seat and get settled. You wouldn’t want to interrupt the processional.

If you are unable to attend the wedding, it’s still proper etiquette to send a gift. If you are attending, it’s not necessary to bring the gift to the wedding. You can send it ahead if you’d like or even send it afterwards since, technically, a guest has one year to send a gift, Gifts of money or gift certificates are generally given at the reception.  Remember, if a gift is brought to the reception, that means someone has to bring it home. The bride and groom are most likely not going home straight from the reception so it might be better not to inconvenience anyone. Above all, enjoy yourself, and tell the happy couple that you are so pleased for them.
